Mary the IELTS Examiner

Mary is an Tavus Pal-powered IELTS Speaking examiner using Tavus Pal, created through Pal Maker and hosted on Lovable. IELTS is taken by 4M+ people each year and can shape access to study, work, and immigration opportunities. It includes a speaking section which is a live, 15-minute face-to-face interview with a real person. The preparation for the speaking section has always required working with expensive human tutors. It also requires inconvenient scheduling and coordination efforts. Mary the IELTS Examiner, recreates the end-to-end exam room itself: a lifelike interactive video examiner that follows exact IELTS conducting guidelines to simulate the English-speaking interview experience in real time. and lets learners practice anytime, anywhere. After the the mock test is finished, Mary prepares detailed scores following official IELTS rubric and actionable feedback for the test taker on what they can practice, evidence-based tips on how they can improve their score, and tracks the English learner's progress over time. By combining Tavus Pal’s human-like interactive video persona with embedded inside a Lovable web app, we made a hyper-realistic, accessible, on-demand mock testing + learning experience for a high-stakes speaking prep.

- Mary the IELTS Examiner creates a persistent user profile via a light sign-up (oauth) & onboarding experience that takes in the test taker's (user's) basic profile - Once signed in, the user can start the 3-part IELTS speaking experience end-to-end following the exact IELTS exam conducting guidelines deterministically via a combination of system prompts, Tavus knowledge/memory, and custom guardrails. - Mary the IELTS Examiner can ask dynamic follow-up questions based on the test taker's spoken answers & utterances. As Mary has more information on the user's performance and common mistakes, Mary can ask more targeted questions and learn from past interactions to continuously update the learner's proficiency levels. - After each end-to-end mock exam experience, Mary presents a exam assessment report with category-by-category scoring, what the final score means, and evidence-based actionable tips.
