Lost Me.
by Sulaxmi, Wani S
"Lost Me" - an AI tutor that doesn't just explain, it learns how you learn.
The idea
Traditional edtech is either passive (videos) or rigid (chatbots that just rephrase). "Lost Me" explores the gap between information delivery and actual understanding — treating confusion not as failure, but as signal. It sits in the space of adaptive pedagogy meets embodied presence.
What it does
What makes it original: Most AI tutors talk at you. "Lost Me" is bidirectional in three dimensions: 1. You teach the AI — role reversal isn't a gimmick, it's the assessment layer. The AI becomes the student, forcing you to articulate understanding. 2. "Lost Me" as a meta-button — it's not just "slower" or "repeat," it's a structured rotation through 5 cognitive lenses. The app learns your preference profile across angles. 3. Attention-aware presence — using MediaPipe face tracking, the tutor notices disengagement (looking away) and nudges you, making the video call feel uncannily human.
How it works
A video-call tutor powered by Tavus where an AI persona explains complex topics, draws live interactive diagrams on a Magic Canvas, and adapts its teaching style in real-time based on your reactions. When something doesn't click, you hit "Lost Me" — the tutor instantly pivots to a completely different explanation angle (analogy → worked example → analogy from your domain → simplified steps → big-picture overview). Once you get it, the mode flips: you teach the AI back, and it quizzes you with genuine follow-ups. It even watches your eyes via webcam — if you look away during a lesson, it gently calls you back.
